The 'Significant Effect' clause defines what constitutes a substantial impact or change within the context of an agreement, often relating to performance, obligations, or outcomes. In practice, this clause sets specific criteria or thresholds—such as financial loss, operational disruption, or regulatory consequences—that must be met for an event or change to be considered significant. By clearly outlining what qualifies as a significant effect, the clause helps parties identify when certain contractual rights or remedies, such as termination or renegotiation, may be triggered, thereby reducing ambiguity and potential disputes.
Significant Effect. Employee will be notified, and negotiations will take place, as soon as practicable of any changes which will have a significant effect on them including re-structuring, change of work location and/or hours, need for re-training and a change in the composition, operational size and skills required by the company.

Significant Effect. (a) Employees will be informed of any changes which may have a significant effect on their employment.
(b) This may include, but not be limited to:
(i) The elimination of a job opportunity or promotion for an Employee;
(ii) Lack of work for which the employer cannot reasonably be held responsible;
(iii) The increase or decrease in the hours to be worked;
(iv) A requirement for re training;
(v) Restructuring of an Employee’s job position.

Significant Effect" includes any of the following: - o Major changes in the composition, operation or size of the Masonic Homes' workforce or in the skills required; o The elimination or diminution of job opportunities, promotion opportunities or job tenure; o Significant alteration to hours of work; o Termination of Employment; o Need for re-training or transfer of employees to other work or locations and the restructuring of jobs. A10.3 Consultation Process Discussions with employees and their chosen representives shall commence as soon as practicable after a definite decision has been made by Masonic Homes to make change(s) that may have "significant effect" (refer A10.2). The discussions will include the probable effect(s) the changes may have on the employees, measures to avert or mitigate the adverse effect of such changes on employees and shall give prompt consideration to matters raised by the employees in relation to the change(s). For the purposes of such discussion, Masonic Homes shall provide in writing to the employees concerned and their chosen representatives, relevant information about the change(s), including the nature of the changes proposed, the expected effects of the changes on employees and any other matters likely to affect employees; - provided that Masonic Homes shall not be required to disclose confidential information, disclosure of which, when looked at objectively, would be inimical to the employer’s interests.

Significant Effect. In this term, a major change is likely to have a significant effect on Employee(s) if it results in:
a) the termination or potential termination of the employment of the Employee(s); or
b) major change to the composition, operation or size of the Company’s workforce or to the skills required of their Employee(s); or
Significant Effect a) Employees will be informed of any changes which will have a significant effect on their position, including restructuring, change of work location and/or hours, need for retraining and a change in the composition, operational size and skills required by the employer.
b) If a full time or part time employee’s position is made redundant and that results in their retrenchment, up to eight (8) hours paid leave will be provided during the notice period for the employee to attend interviews for other employment. This leave does not have to be taken at any one time, and reasonable evidence of the entitlement must be provided. No other entitlement to severance payments is due under the terms of this agreement.
