Sources of Emotional Demands covers demands arising from people- related features of the job (in contrast to the Mental Demands factor which covers demands arising from work-related features). Emotional demands are those which cause emotional pressure and may result in the jobholder feeling upset, or grieved, or angry. Job features must be looked at objectively. Account should still be taken of the source of the emotional demand, where individual jobholders, who deal frequently with it, may learn to "cope" and not to demonstrate the emotional pressure on them. It is assumed that all relevant precautions are taken, that the jobholder is trained to deal with the relevant people and complies with health and safety procedures.

Should an employee dispute any such entry in his/her file, he/she shall be entitled to recourse through the Grievance Procedure and the eventual resolution thereof shall become part of his/her personal record.
