Students with. Disabilities - students who have been evaluated in accordance with DCPS procedures and identified as having temporary or long-term special education needs arising from cognitive, emotional, or physical factors, or any combination of these. The ability to meet general education objectives is impaired to a degree whereby the services available in the general education program are inadequate for preparation to achieve educational potential. Included are students having mental retardation, hearing impairment (including deafness), speech impairment, language impairment, visualimpairment (including blindness), serious emotional disturbance, other health impairment, orthopedic impairment, specific learning disability, autism, traumatic brain injury, deaf-blindness, and multiple disabilities.
Students with. Disabilities All placements of students with disabilities shall be made in accordance with Commissioner’s Regulations Part 100 and 200 and District policy and procedures. The City School District will make every effort at each school site to assign and schedule students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment on an equitable basis within the school, department, and subject area. A copy of the IEP shall be made available to the teacher of a student with a disability before the student enters the class, or as soon thereafter as is administratively possible. All placements of, and programming for, students with disabilities shall be made in accordance with Commissioner’s Regulations Part 100 and 200 and District policy and procedures.
Students with. Disabilities Students with disabilities who are enrolled in the School shall be provided with programs implemented in accordance to federal and state laws and local policies and procedures, specifically, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 1997; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Sections 1005.05 and 1001.42, Florida Statutes; Chapter 6A-6 of the Florida Administrative Code; the Sponsor’s Special Programs and Procedures document; Sponsor’s policies relating to ―Least Restrictive Environment‖, ―Non-discrimination on Basis of Disability‖, and sections of the Sponsor’s Pupil Progression Plan and Code of Student Conduct dealing with students with disabilities. The School must fund all educational and related services provided to students pursuant to the IEP and will earn funding in accordance with §1002.33, F.S. and other applicable laws. The Sponsor shall be responsible to ensure that the needs of ESE students are being met. The School will provide Sponsor’s staff access to view, review, copy, retrieve, request, and/or recover the ESE files at the School upon reasonable notice. Consistent with the provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), parent/guardians or their appropriate representative will be a member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for the establishment and modification of the student’s Individual Educational Plan.
Students with disabilities will leave school with a post-secondary education plan, or community employment at minimum wage or greater so that they may enjoy the positive benefits of employment.
