Teaching Assistant Evaluation. I. Where applicable, Employees shall use instructional rating reports in each course that they teach. Such reports will be designed in a way that reflects the duties assigned. These reports shall be submitted to the employing unit. Wherever practical, instructional rating reports shall not be the sole means for evaluating an Employee’s performance. II. The faculty supervisor of each course staffed by an Employee shall submit each semester to the unit administrator a formal written evaluation of each supervised Employee. After notifying the Employee, selected members of the employing unit may visit and observe the Employee teaching in the instructional setting. Additionally, upon Employee request in writing, the Employer may observe, when appropriate, the Employee teaching in the instructional setting. Information from these visits and observations shall be used in the evaluation. III. Student evaluation of Employees (or summaries thereof), formal written evaluations, and any supplementary information shall be placed in the Employee’s personnel record for use by the employing unit and the Employee in accordance with Section IV. This material shall remain on active file until the Employee’s teaching role ends after which a copy of the record shall be provided to the Employee upon written request. IV. Evaluation material described in Sections I, II and III may be used in overall evaluations. V. The faculty supervisor shall consider Employee requests to evaluate discussion sections separately from lecture sections. VI. Employees shall have the opportunity to comment in writing upon the ratings received and such comments shall be placed in the Employee’s personnel record. VII. Upon Employee request, the evaluator shall meet with the Teaching Assistant to discuss the completed formal evaluation. VIII. The Employer shall provide the Employee with a copy of the formal written evaluation within thirty (30) days of the receipt of all relevant materials.

Teaching Assistant Evaluation. I. 1. Such reports will be designed in a way that reflects the duties assigned. These reports surveys shall be completed by students enrolled in the course and submitted to the employing unit. Wherever practical, instructional rating reports shall not At the discretion of the instructor of record and/or supervisor the SOS may be the sole means for evaluating an Employee’s performancesupplemented by additional information gleaned from faculty evaluations.
II2. The faculty supervisor of each course staffed taught by an Employee a Teaching Assistant (in some cases a Graduate Coordinator) shall submit each semester to the department chair/unit administrator a formal written evaluation of each supervised EmployeeTeaching Assistant. The evaluation shall occur during the Spring semester of that Graduate Assistant’s appointment, or once a year for those on appointments of less than one academic year. After notifying the EmployeeGraduate Assistant, selected members of the employing unit may visit and observe the Employee Graduate Assistant teaching in the instructional setting. Notice should be provided at least five (5) business days in advance of the visit. Additionally, upon Employee Graduate Assistant request in writing, the Employer CMU may observe, when appropriate, the Employee Graduate Assistant teaching in the instructional setting. Information from these visits and observations shall may be used in the evaluation.
III3. Student evaluation evaluations of Employees Teaching Assistants (or summaries thereof), formal written evaluationsevaluations by faculty, evaluations from other Teaching Assistants elicited by the faculty supervisor or the Graduate Assistant, and any relevant supplementary information shall may be placed in the EmployeeGA’s personnel record for use by the employing unit and the Employee in accordance with Section IVrecord. This material shall remain on active file until consistent with the EmployeeUniversity’s teaching role ends after which a copy of the record shall be provided to the Employee upon written requestpractices for maintaining Graduate Assistant records.
IV4. Evaluation material described in Sections Isubsections 1, II 2 and III 3 above may be used in overall evaluations.
V. The faculty supervisor shall consider Employee requests to evaluate discussion sections separately from lecture sections.
VI5. Employees Graduate Assistants shall have the opportunity to comment in writing upon the ratings received evaluation and such comments shall be placed in the EmployeeGraduate Assistant’s personnel record.
