Tutoring. Consistent with Governing Board policy, the following rules relating to tutoring have been established: a. A teacher may not arrange to tutor any pupil enrolled in his/her class for pay. b. No tutoring for which a teacher receives a fee will be carried on in a school building unless approved by the school principal of enrollment. c. Teachers who accept outside tutoring engagements make their own arrangements with the parents for the fees to be assessed. d. Tutors must be certified in the areas served.

Tutoring. The Nursing Department maintains a peer tutoring program. The purpose of tutoring is to assist students to develop or improve study skills and thereby increase each student’s potential to be successful in the nursing program. Students who accept tutoring must complete at least two study skills classes (usually 60- 90 minutes long) offered each quarter in the campus Student Success Center, prior to tutoring sessions may begin. Tutors may receive extra credit points (per current instructor’s policy), or they may be paid. Not all instructors give extra credit for tutoring and there are limited funds to pay tutors. A Tutor may not receive both extra credit and pay for tutoring. The peer tutoring program guidelines include:
Tutoring study skills training, instruction, and evidence-based dropout prevention and recovery strategies that lead to the completion of the requirements for a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent (including a recognized certificate of attendance or similar document for individuals with disabilities) or for a recognized postsecondary credential;
Tutoring. A No teacher may tutor, for compensation, a student enrolled in his/her classes. (The only exception would be when a teacher assumes, at the request of the Building Principal or his/her assistant, the instruction of a student on homebound teaching.)
Tutoring i) Academic casual staff member required to deliver or present a tutorial (or equivalent delivery through other than face to face teaching mode) of a specified duration and relatedly provide directly associated non-contact duties in the nature of preparation, reasonably contemporaneous marking and student consultation, will be paid at a rate for each hour of tutorial delivered or presented (refer to Schedule 1 of this Agreement). ii) The hourly rate in a repeat tutorial applies to a second or subsequent delivery of substantially the same tutorial in the same course matter within a period of 7 days, and any marking and student consultation reasonably contemporaneous with it. iii) For the purposes of this Agreement, the term ‘tutorial’ means any education delivery described as a tutorial in a course outline, or in an official timetable issued by the University.
Tutoring. If a student requires private tutoring or parents wish to have a student tutored in school subjects, the parents are responsible for engaging the tutor and paying all tutoring costs. The school may assist the parents in identifying tutoring resources. Teachers may not be paid for tutoring students assigned to their classes. With prior permission from the principal, teachers may tutor other students who attend the school and be paid for such tutoring by the parents. A school may arrange with independent contractors or entities, who are not teachers or staff at the school to provide tutoring on a fee basis. Independent entities must have appropriate licenses, agreements for use of the premises and insurance. All tutors and entities must comply with the procedures and policies of the extended school day program and the Archdiocesan Guidelines for Adults Interacting with Minors at Parish or Parish School Activities or Events.
Tutoring. It will be deemed unethical and unprofessional for a teacher to solicit students assigned to him/her or the parents of such students for the purpose of additional tutoring or private lessons for which a monetary charge is to be collected.

Tutoring. Any teacher who tutors students for the Board shall be paid twenty dollars ($20.00) per hour. Tutorial positions will be offered to bargaining unit teachers prior to being offered to teachers employed outside the District.
