Teaching Preparations. The parties agree that the Employer has the responsibility, from time to time, of preparing and promulgating teaching schedules for its teachers. In secondary schools, within a department, every effort shall be made to schedule so that all members of that department will teach at least one (1) class of their choice and every effort shall be made to minimize and/or reduce the number of preparations each member of the department shall have. In furtherance of this responsibility, the parties agree that teachers shall not be required to teach in more than three (3) certification areas, nor teach subjects involving more than four (4) different preparations or any combination to exceed four (4) preparations in secondary schools, unless: 1. The teacher consents to teach more than specified above, or; 2. The above limitations to any particular teacher(s) would create an unusual difficulty in scheduling within a school or create unusual hardships on students.
