Preparation Periods. 31-1 The School District agrees to maintain daily preparation periods during the student day in all junior and senior high schools. At schools where block scheduling is in effect, the total preparation time provided shall be equal to the preparation time provided at schools not operating on a block schedule. 31-2 The School District shall maintain at each elementary school a minimum of two hundred and fifty (250) minutes preparation time per week per teacher, during the students’ instructional day, in not less than forty- (40) minute blocks. Each elementary school shall be allocated and assigned library aide hours per school day in accordance with the following schedule: This aide time is provided in addition to the assigned media clerk time. Library aide time is guaranteed for the school year once set on a school year basis. There will be no changes in library aide time allocated due to fluctuation in enrollment. This provision for allocating library aide time will only remain as part of this Agreement if librarians are used to provide preparation time to elementary teachers. 31-3 Preparation time provided for in this Article shall be utilized by teachers in a manner which enables further development and refinement of professional skills and for instructional effectiveness. 31-4 Although it does not relate to any mandatory subject of bargaining, the School District states that it is its aim and objective to establish a maximum class load of thirty (30) students in grades 4, 5, and 6. 00-0 Xxx Xxxxxxxx may direct use of teacher preparation periods if such directed use is infrequent, advance notice is given and the District’s use of the teacher’s preparation period must not consume an entire period.

Preparation Periods. One hundred fifty (150) minutes of duty free lunch periods per work week in blocks of not less than thirty (30) continuous minutes during the teachers’ regular work day except as provided for in Article VI, Section Y-Duty Free Lunch Period.
Preparation Periods. (a) All teachers shall have a daily preparation period, except when the format of their schedule (curriculum) requires scheduling which prohibits daily preparation periods. In such cases, at least five (5) preparation periods shall be scheduled for such teacher per week. Teachers shall not be assigned to any other duties during their preparation periods. (b) All elementary teachers shall be provided with a minimum of five (5) preparation periods of forty-five (45) minutes in duration per week for a total of two hundred twenty-five (225) minutes per week. In order to attain this goal, when scheduled by the Superintendent, or their designee, the regularly assigned teacher may be absent from the classroom to prepare during the period when regularly assigned special teachers in art, music and physical education are present, providing instruction to the pupils to whom the regularly assigned teacher is normally assigned and providing such absence from the classroom is agreeable to the principal. (c) Teachers of split grades must be consulted prior to the scheduling of preparation periods and the results of such consultation will be considered in determining schedules. (d) When a teacher agrees to cover a class for another teacher during their preparation period, the teacher shall be paid $42.00 per hour or portion thereof.
Preparation Periods. Sec 11.1 Each teacher shall be scheduled a minimum of 235 minutes of preparation time per week with an uninterrupted time block of no less than 30 minutes daily. No teacher will lose a preparation period in any given week except in case of emergency, emergency drill or absence. Sec 11.2 In any instance when the workday is reduced, scheduled school periods shortened, or the day's schedule is adjusted because of the educational program, co-curricular functions, activity programs, transportation requirements, emergencies, or unusual circumstances, the instructional preparation may be proportionally shortened with no recourse by processes of the grievance procedure. Sec 11.3 The District retains the right to increase student contact time within the above preparation time guarantees and the guarantees contained in Article 10. Sec 11.4 Special Education classroom teachers shall be provided a substitute for up to three (3) days of release time per year in order to conduct or complete special education work. This work will be directed by the Special Education teacher, aligned with daily work responsibilities and approved by the administrator. The special education classroom teacher must submit a request to the building principal for the substitute a minimum of two (2) days in advance. The request shall be approved by the building principal and special education director. The teacher shall work on campus while utilizing a substitute under this provision. The building administrator and special education director may authorize additional leave time for a special education teacher upon request. The district may provide additional time for Special Education teachers to complete intermittent work responsibilities (examples: 1-1 state testing or Oregon Department of Education complaint investigations).
Preparation Periods. 5 6.4.1 In the secondary district, a daily preparation/consultation period equal to the length of one 6 (1) class period will be provided. The preparation/consultation period shall be used primarily 7 for preparation and, upon reasonable prior notification, for parent, administrative, and 8 student conferences. 9 6.4.2 Regular elementary classroom teachers other than kindergarten teachers will be provided 10 two (2) 30-minute preparation periods per week and one (1) 60-minute preparation period 11 per week, or four (4) 30-minute preparation periods per week unless the aforementioned 12 assigned preparation periods fall on a school holiday, minimum day, or modified day.

Preparation Periods. Preparation time for the secondary certificated employees (7-12) will be one (1) class period per normal school day. Pre-K-6 certificated employees will be provided at least one 30-minute planning time per day, to be scheduled during the student day. Itinerant staff shall be granted the same amount of planning during the student contact day and lunch times as non- itinerant elementary staff. No itinerant staff will be required to travel during their lunch or planning time. Every effort will be made to schedule itinerant employees at one (1) building per day. General music itinerant staff will not be required to travel to more than two (2) buildings on any day. Classroom teachers will be paid per diem per preparation period when required by the principal/designee to cover another class. The employer shall attempt to ensure that classroom teacher's preparation periods shall be used for conferences and classroom planning. Counselors, assessment coordinators, and other non-classroom specialists may occasionally be asked to cover a class when substitutes are not available. If this occurs during a time that interferes with these employees’ regular work with students that cannot be rescheduled, they will be paid at their per diem rate for covering a class. Each school within the District shall determine a protocol for covering classes when a substitute is not available. The principal and school leadership team will meet to consider options and develop this protocol, and forward to the Human Resources Department no later than October 1.
