Common use of Temporary Assignment and Shift Reassignment Clause in Contracts

Temporary Assignment and Shift Reassignment. A. A temporary assignment, including shift reassignments, shall not exceed thirty (30) days, except in extraordinary circumstances, in which case the Chief shall provide written notice to the member explaining the need for such extension. Temporary assignments may be made by the Chief based upon the needs, interests, efficient, or effective operation of the Department or to ensure the safety of the Officer or the public. Temporary assignments may be effected by the Chief at his or her option, either on a requested or on an administrative basis.
