Temporary Assignment Travel. (a) When an employee is assigned temporarily to a work site within the Province that is so far removed that they are unable to return to their designated headquarters at the end of each work day, the following conditions shall apply: (1) Travel between their place of temporary accommodation and the work site shall be considered as time worked. (2) Employees shall be provided with return economy air fare in order to allow them to return to their place of residence and return to the work site at the end of each work week on the employee's time. (3) Employees who choose not to return to their place of residence shall not receive the return air fare. (b) (a) above does not apply to employees who participate in Ministry training programs as a condition of employment. In-service employees participating in such training programs shall be afforded the opportunity of returning to their headquarters for a weekend at the end of a two-week period at the Employer's expense. Travel shall be on the employee's time and accommodation expenses for the weekend period, if any, shall be the employee's responsibility. The Employer shall determine the mode of transportation to be taken by the employee.
