Track AC Sample Clauses

Track AC. Track AC is 274 km and is mainly located in the WSC with the northern mooring positioned in xxx XXX. The track is most often partially covered by sea ice, but can sometimes have the whole track ice free. In Figure 9 we see the horizontally averaged temperature profiles between source and receiver mooring presented as a Hovöller diagram, and it show that a surface duct is present during the whole experiment period. The clearest variability in the sound speed is between 300 – 500 m. Superimposed on the Hovmöller diagram are the corresponding arrival times from Jan 2008 to January 2010. The acoustic travel times are calculated using oceanographic fields from the high resolution Fram Strait model in the RAY model for two source/Receiver configurations (400 m / 307m and 800 m/800 m). Daily fields are available, but to reduce the simulation times only every 7 daily field is used as input to the acoustic model. For SD=400 m the arrivals come in between 187.3- 188.2 s throughout the whole time period considered. There is a clear variability through the 2 year long time series. Periods of early arrivals correspond to warmer periods observed in the upper 500 m of the ocean column. Late arrivals are related to cooling events. There is a clear variability through the 2 year long time series, however the variability is not purely seasonal. There is no significant difference between the two source depths, but there seems to be more arrivals present in the case of SD=400 m.
