Transition of Recreation Assistants to Half. TIME POSITIONS‌ The City of Los Angeles and AFSCME support the goal of transitioning employees into exempt half-time positions, so that the employees become eligible for half-time pro-rated benefits, as described in Article 6.0 (Benefits) of this MOU. It is intended that the process set forth in this Article not limit the number of half-time positions that may be achieved through this process. Employees appointed to these half-time positions shall immediately be certified to LACERS and become eligible for pro-rated half-time benefits. Definition of Exempt Half-time Positions A position, which will be compensated for 1,040 hours within a service year, with a minimum of 20 hours per pay period (any combination of hours per week which total 20 hours per pay period). e.g.: 20 pay periods X 30 hours = 600 hours 5 pay periods X 80 hours = 400 hours 1 pay period of vacation earned = 40 hours 1,040 total hours The above example is illustrative and not restrictive as a possible schedule.
