TRANSPORTATION, TRAVEL TIME AND ROOM AND BOARD. 12.01 Transportation, travel, and mileage are as follows: a. There shall be a free travel zone (the “free zone”) described b. Mileage is not paid to employees when the Employer provides transportation, but the employees elect to drive directly to the job site. d. The same amount of travel time is paid to each employee in the crew traveling to the same job site from the same marshalling area. e. Where the Employer requests employees to transport the Employer’s tools, equipment, materials or personnel with their own vehicle and the employee agrees, the Employer shall pay mileage and travel time for all distance and time traveled whether within or outside the free zone. Distance and time in this article are to be measured using Google Maps as the shortest distance by paved road calculated at the time of travel and excludes toll roads unless Employer is paying the cost of the toll.

Mileage, where applicable, is paid for all kilometres travelled from the Employer’s shop shop, marshalling point or home, as the case may be, per above, to the project and return. The mileage rate is forty-eight $0.55 per kilometre ($0.48/km) cents or the rate per kilometrekilometre as set and updated by the CAA). Mileage is not paid to employees when the Employer provides transportation, transportation but the employees elect to drive directly use alternate means of travel to or from the job site. d. The same amount of travel time is paid to each employee in the crew traveling to the same job site from the same marshalling area. e. . For clarity, the tools, equipment, and materials must be of a significant amount or size in order for this travel pay to apply. When due to logistical challenges it is not possible for an employee to ride as a passenger in an employee assigned vehicle from the shop, a marshalling area shall be determined that is more or less within the same driving distance as the employees normal drive from home to their assigned Airon shop. The employee shall not be paid for mileage between the marshalling area and their home. Mileage is not paid to employees when the Employer provides transportation, but the employees elect to drive directly to the job site. d. c. The same amount of travel time is paid to each employee in the crew traveling to the same job site from the same marshalling area. e. d. Where the Employer requests employees to transport the Employer’s tools, equipment, materials or personnel with their own vehicle and the employee agrees, the Employer shall pay mileage and travel time for all distance as per article 13.01 a, b, and time traveled whether within or outside the free zone. e. e. Distance and time in this article are to be measured using Google Maps as the shortest distance by paved road calculated at the assigned shift start time of travel as determined by the Project Manager and excludes toll roads unless the Employer is paying the cost of the toll. The Google Map route shall be determined to be the route between the Employee’s assigned shop and the job site. f. Employees that do not have a valid driver’s license, an insurable driving record or a driving record deemed at additional risk and subject to a premium by the Employer’s insurer shall be subject to the terms laid out in the Employee Agreement and Company Policy. 12.02 Where jobs are undertaken by the Employer in areas which are any distance from the Employers Headquarters and where employees are required board and lodging, the Employer will ensure that either adequate lodging is made available for employees or employees will be reimbursed for any costs associated with board and lodgings should they find their own. Further, employees will also be reimbursed $60.00 per day in lieu of an available kitchen at their lodging. Each employee will have access to their own bedroom.
