Common use of - TUITION-FREE ATTENDANCE OF UNIT MEMBERS' CHILDREN Clause in Contracts

- TUITION-FREE ATTENDANCE OF UNIT MEMBERS' CHILDREN. Non-resident bargaining unit members may enroll their natural, adopted (by court order) and custodial (by court order) children in the district’s schools tuition free provided they have not been suspended or expelled from any public or private school. The conditions under which the students may enroll are as follows: 1. Residents of the school district (including those pursuing intra- district school enrollment) shall always have first priority in enrollment. 2. Among the children of Non-resident Bargaining Unit Members who qualify, enrollment and placement shall be on a first come, first serve, space available basis, provided however, that children previously enrolled in the district shall have priority, for re-enrolling the following year, over children of non-resident bargaining unit members who are seeking to enroll for the first time. 3. Non-resident Bargaining Unit Members, and their children, are required to satisfy all the requirements of the District’s policies regarding intra-district school enrollment and non-resident students/tuition, except that the payment of tuition is not required. 4. In the event, that a Non-resident Bargaining Unit Member enrolls a child in the school district and the child’s condition requires excessive expenditures on the part of the District, the Unit Member shall reimburse the District the difference in costs as compared to the District’s statutory tuition rate. Should any court or agency rule that the receding sentence, for whatever reason, is unenforceable, then this entire Section will cease to exist. 5. Any student receiving free tuition, as a condition of the continued receipt of free tuition, shall maintain at least a C average.
