Union Approval of Representatives. A grievance may be undertaken by the Employer, the Union, an employee, or a group of employees. Only the Union or representative approved by the union may represent employees in such grievances. However, any employee or group of employees may personally present a grievance without representation by the Union, provided the Union has the right to be present at formal discussions and during the grievance proceedings. It is incumbent on the employee and/or group of employees to inform the Union when they are undertaking a grievance on their own, or using a representative who has not been appointed by the Union. In exercising their rights to present a grievance, employee representatives will be unimpeded and free from restraint, coercion, discrimination or reprisal.

  • Union Approval Where the grievance relates to the interpretation or application of this Collective Agreement, the employee is not entitled to present the grievance unless she has the approval in writing of the Union or is represented by the Union.
