An equal number of representatives of each party as mutually agreed shall meet at a time and place mutually satisfactory. A request for such meeting will be made in writing at least one week prior to the date proposed and accompanied by an agenda of matters proposed to be discussed, which shall not include matters that are properly the subject of grievance or matters that are properly the subject of negotiations for the amendment or renewal of this Agreement. A representative attending such meeting shall be paid for wages lost from regularly scheduled hours. A Union staff member may attend as a representative of the Union. UNION COMMITTEE AND STEWARDS. The Employer Union will have the right to appoint or otherwise select a grievance/negotiating committee of six employees. The Union may appoint an alternate member, who will have the right to attend and participate at the regular Grievance meeting only if a regular Committeeman is absent. The Alternate will have the right to sit in on negotiating meetings as an observer only. When performing in an observer capacity, the Alternate will not be paid by the Company. The Union may also select two Stewards, on the shift who will have the right to attend and participate at the regular meeting. If negotiations are carried on individually for any or all of the nursing homes in the chain in the Province of Ontario, it is agreed that the Union will elect or otherwise select a negotiating committee consisting of three employees, one of which shall be the Chief Xxxxxxx. members of the committee shall be regular employees of the who have completed their probationary period. The Employer the right (a) It is mutually agreed that, where negotiations are conducted on a joint basis between any or all of the nursing homes in the chain in the Province of Ontario, the Union to appoint may elect or otherwise select a negotiating committee consisting of one represent- ative from each nursing home, who shall be a member of the part-time bargaining unit, but may be a member of the full-time bargaining unit. If negotiations are carried on individually for any or all of the nursing homes in the chain in the Province of Ontario, it is agreed that the Union may elect or otherwise select a negotiating committee consisting of a maximum of two stewards from the employees who shall be members of the part-time bargaining unit, if possible, but may be members of the full-time bargaining unit. The stewards shall Part-time bargaining unit members of the committee will be paid by the Employer for time used during normally scheduled working hours for negotiation of this Agreement or its successor, including all conciliation proceedings, but excluding any Arbitration proceedings. It is understood that full-time bargaining unit members will not be paid by the Employer for any time spent in negotiating this Agreement or its successor. The Employer will a Union Administrative Committee for both the full-time and part-time bargaining units, which shall consist of a Chief Xxxxxxx and four stewards, at least one of which shall be a member of the part-time bargaining unit. Not more than two committee members shall meet with Management at one time. The Employer shall be advised of the names of members of this committee and shall be notified of any changes from time to time. All members of the committee referred to in Article and above shall be regular employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary period. The Union acknowledges that the stewards members of the Union Administrative Committee must continue to perform their regular duties on behalf of the Employer duties, and that so as far as possible, all activities of the stewards committee will be carried on outside the regular working hours of the stewards members thereof, unless otherwise mutually agreed by the Employer and the Union. The Employer agrees to a negotiating committee composed of two employees whose function shall be to negotiate renewals of this Collective Agreement as provided in Article The negotiating committee shall be regular full-time employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary period. Such employee members of the committee and stewards shall be paid by the Employer for time used during normally scheduled working hours of the employees in negotiations up to and including all Conciliation proceedings, but excluding any Arbitration proceedingsarranged. The Union Administrative Committee will notify the Employer of the names of the stewards and the names of the members of the negotiating committee in writing and further agrees to advise the Employer in writing promptly of any change in the same. The Employer first obtain a supervisor's permission, which shall not be obligated to unreasonably withheld, before undertaking Union business. Suitable subjects for discussion will include orientation and aggressive residents. A representative attending such meeting shall be paid for wages lost from regularly scheduled hours. A Union staff member may attend as a representative of the Union. Meetings will be held quarterly unless otherwise agreed. It is understood that that, where full and part-time agreements are separate, there shall be one committee only.

UNION COMMITTEE AND STEWARDS. The Employer Union shall have the right of the Union to appoint or elect otherwise select up to four employees to act as stewards and to represent other employees in negotiations and to assist other employees in the presentation of any grievances they may have, if such assistance is requested.
