Common use of Union Xxxxxxx Committee/Meetings Clause in Contracts

Union Xxxxxxx Committee/Meetings. (1) For contract negotiations, conferences and/or grievance meetings held under any article of this Agreement, the Company will recognize a Union Committee that shall not exceed two including the Chief Xxxxxxx. (2) The President of the Local and/or a representative of the National Union may attend such conferences, grievance meetings, continuous dialogue and negotiations when so desired by the Union. (3) The Company will compensate up to two (2) members of the Union Contract Negotiating Committee who are employees of the Company for lost time from their regular schedule spent in contract negotiation meetings with the Company. Compensation will only be paid up to Conciliation. (4) Continuous Dialogue meetings may be held between the Company and a Union committee at such times as may be mutually agreed upon. Requests for meetings will be made: (a) On behalf of the Company to the Chief Xxxxxxx; or (b) On behalf of the Union to a member of the Company’s management; and (c) A written agenda of matters to be discussed will be supplied at the same time such a meeting is requested. (5) During regular working hours the Stewards will be allowed a reasonable period of time from their regular duties at straight time payment to attend to Union business within the Plant. If, in the opinion of the Company, a Xxxxxxx is spending an unreasonable amount of time on Union business, this matter will be the subject of a conference between the Company and a Union committee as provided for in Article 4.04(4). If the matter is not satisfactorily disposed of it may be referred by either party to Arbitration as provided for in Article 7. (6) Before leaving their regular duties, Stewards shall obtain the permission of their supervisor. (7) The Stewards shall be permitted to enter the plant at any time to attend to Union duties which shall not be unreasonably denied. (8) All new Union members and new employees coming within the scope of the Collective Agreement shall receive the Union’s Orientation Program. Adequate time and facilities shall be provided by the Company to the Union to accommodate the program. If requested by the Union, this may be done at the Xxxxxx Street Hall.

Requests for meetings will be made: (a) On behalf of the Company to the Chief Xxxxxxx; or (b) On behalf of the Union to a member of the Company’s management; and (c) A written agenda of matters to be discussed will be supplied at the same time such a meeting is requested. Should the xxxxxxx wish to enter another work area, the xxxxxxx must contact the supervisor of the other area before commencing their Union business. Stewards will also report to their supervisor when returning to regular duties. (7) The Stewards shall be permitted to enter the plant at any time to attend to Union duties which shall not be unreasonably denied. (8) All new Union members and new employees coming within the scope of the Collective Agreement shall receive the Union’s Orientation Program. Adequate time and facilities shall be provided by the Company to the Union to accommodate the program. If requested by the Union, this may be done at the Xxxxxx Street Hall.
