Common use of Unpaid Professional Development Leave Clause in Contracts

Unpaid Professional Development Leave. A unit member may be granted a leave of absence without pay or benefits of up to two (2) years for professional development which shall include:  Additional schooling and/or training related to member’s discipline  Faculty exchange programs  Research projects - related to member's discipline  Work experience with other educational institutions, government agencies, corporations, foundations or governments, related to member's discipline Any exceptions to the above must be fully justified based on the member's ability to teach in his/her subject area.
