Supplemental Leave. An employee who is receiving temporary disability payments and supplemental sick leave or vacation as described in 'D. above is considered on regular pay status for purposes of application of provisions of this Agreement, except completion of the probationary period. Sick leave and vacation accrued during this period may be used as soon as they accrue.

Supplemental Leave. 1. Supplemental leave will be granted as follows: a. Teachers in their 1st through 6th years in the District receive four (4) supplemental days. b. Teachers in their 7th through 14th years in the District receive (3) supplemental days. c. Teachers in their 15th through 21st years in the District receive (2) supplemental days. d. Teachers in their 22nd above years in the District receive (2) supplemental days. 2. The supplemental leave days may be used only with the approval of the principal and the Superintendent or designee. 3. In the event a teacher has exhausted the available leave days, the supplemental leave shall be available with no deduction in pay and may be used for any of the following: a. Maternity or adoption.
Supplemental Leave. Short-term leave of absence for circumstances not provided for under other leave provisions of the Agreement may be granted by the Superintendent or his/her designee. Such leave shall be without pay and not subject to being deducted from any accumulated leave. The Superintendent may grant such leave with a deduction equivalent to the base substitute pay rate in hardship situations where, in the opinion of the Superintendent, the teacher’s absence was due to circumstances beyond the teacher’s control.
Supplemental Leave. The purpose of "supplemental leave" is to provide members with a paid day off in order to attend a meeting not directly related to that member’s actual teaching assignment, but rather that which is directly related to a supplementary assignment being directed by that teacher. a. The Board will allow the released time, and will provide for a substitute teacher (if necessary); however, the Board will not pay for mileage, registration fees, overnight lodging, or any other expenses associated with supplemental leave. b. All expenses (except for a substitute teacher) are to be incurred by the member or the organization of which the teacher is the coach, director, or advisor. c. Supplemental leave must be applied for through the building principal and approved/rejected by the principal at least one (1) week prior to the requested date of leave.
Supplemental Leave. (a) Employees in the UWU bargaining unit shall be entitled to supplemental leave equivalent to five weeks' leave for each year of service in the bargaining unit (prorated for partial years or part-time employment). Such leave shall be scheduled to precede and abut the commencement of Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP) benefits in the following manner: (1) Regardless of age, employees may schedule their accrued supplemental leave entitlement to precede and abut pension. Employees who schedule supplemental leave prior to age 55 must have sufficient leave to meet age 55. (2) Current accrued entitlements using various previous formulae will be honoured, subject to scheduling restrictions in this article, except that employees whose entitlement was reduced at age 60 shall have their entitlement restored to five weeks' leave for each year of service in the bargaining unit. Accrual of additional leave pursuant to Memorandum of Agreement 9 is revised as indicated in the memorandum. (3) Final year vacation entitlement, pursuant to Clause 15.1(d) must be scheduled prior to commencement of supplemental leave. (4) Employees on supplemental leave will not engage in remunerative employment which conflicts with their duty of loyalty to the BCGEU. (5) Where employees fail to commence PSPP benefits as scheduled to abut supplemental leave, the cost of such leave and benefits shall be recovered by the BCGEU by means of an agreement signed by the BCGEU, UWU and the employee prior to the commencement of supplemental leave. (6) There is no further accrual of supplemental leave when the combination of pensionable service and earned supplemental leave exceeds 35 years. Where employees have additional pensionable service which is available for purchase pursuant to Public Service, Municipal, College or Teachers Pension Plan Rules, they must declare whether they intend to purchase such service prior to commencement of supplement leave. Where an employee indicates they will not purchase additional service and changes their mind subsequent to commencement of supplemental leave resulting in supplemental leave which exceeds these limitations, the excess leave shall be recoverable by means of the agreement noted in 5 above. (7) Employees ineligible for further accrual of supplemental leave will make no further contribution, nor will the BCGEU. Employees who resign will receive severance in accordance with MOA 5. (8) There is no further accrual of leave while on supplemental leave accrued...

Requests for supplemental leave shall be made in writing to the superintendent and shall set forth reasons in support of the request. Such leave shall be without pay and shall not be subject to being deducted from any accumulated leave. 2. Each request for supplemental leave shall be referred to the board at their next meeting with each request decided on its own merits by the board after considering the following factors; a. The availability of a qualified substitute teacher. b. Reasons in support of the request. c. The length of the requested leave of absence. 3. Upon their return from leave, the teacher shall retain the following employment rights held before such leave was granted; a. Their position on the salary schedule plus recognition of college hours completed during the leave. b. Unused sick leave and other leave benefits as held by the teacher. c. Although no salary or fringe benefits will be paid during the leave, the teacher may continue as a member of the group insurance plan, if approved by the insurance carrier.

Supplemental Leave. A professor may use 16.A.1.a Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), accrued sick leave, or any other accrued time off to supplement any unpaid reproductive loss leave with pay where the FMLA required criteria are met.

In the event a teacher has exhausted the available leave days, the supplemental leave shall be available with no deduction in pay and may be used for any of the following: a. maternity, adoption, illness, injury or death of the employee’s immediate family (immediate family means husband, wife, parents, stepparents, children, grandparents, grandparents of spouse, grandchildren, brother, sister, parent-in- law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law; other more remote relatives may be included if approved in advance by the Superintendent or designee) as well as to attend funeral of either family or friends. 4. Supplemental leave days do not accumulate, nor are useable as credit toward early retirement benefits, nor are they reimbursable under the provisions of D of this Article. 5. Teachers with 15 years or more in the district will have one (1) supplemental day credited towards either early retirement or retirement at the end of the year. 6. The district will set aside not more than $38,500 and maintain a bank of at least 150 days as a Catastrophic Leave Bank. It will be administered by the Catastrophic Leave Bank committee as outlined in the Catastrophic Leave Bank Guidelines. (See attached Appendix A).
Supplemental Leave. Effective April 1, 2022, an employee shall be entitled to two days of supplemental leave at their regular rate of pay per calendar year. These days are subject to operational requirements and cannot be attached to other leaves of absence, including vacation and paid statutory holidays. This may be used in one‐half shift increments.
