Common use of Unsatisfactory or Substandard Performance Clause in Contracts

Unsatisfactory or Substandard Performance. When an employee’s overall performance has been rated as “unsatisfactory,” the appropriate personnel action shall be taken by management, which may include the development and implementation of a performance improvement plan (“PIP”), a form of disciplinary action to correct performance deficiencies. The PIP shall be administered by the employee’s supervisor in conjunction with the Office of Human Resources. The employee’s failure to demonstrate satisfactory performance under a PIP could lead to further disciplinary action up to and including discharge.
