Common use of Violence at Work Clause in Contracts

Violence at Work. The Company considers work-related violence to be a serious matter and will take all reasonable steps to reduce risks from violence to its employees and to others who may be affected. Violence at work is defined as “any incident in which a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work.” All employees are encouraged to report work-related violence as defined above on the Violent Incident Report Form. All incidents of violence at work will be investigated and the victims will be provided with the appropriate support and counseling if required. The Company and the Union encourage employees who suffer violence at work to report incidents to the police and the Company will support them (such as time off to attend court) in any subsequent criminal or civil proceedings to ensure that those who commit acts of violence against its employees are prosecuted.
