WAGES AND PAY PRACTICES. 9.01 During the term of this Agreement the Division and the Association agree that all payment of wages shall be made in accordance with the wage rates set forth in the Wage Schedule appended hereto, which Wage Schedule is hereby made a part of this Agreement. 9.02 All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis (every two (2) weeks). The Division will pay to part-time and other employees who work less than twelve (12) months a year, their vacation pay amounts then owing on each biweekly pay cheque. (c) Where an employee moves from one salary schedule to another salary schedule, (e.g., educational assistant salary schedule to clerical salary schedule), the employee shall be placed on the new salary classification at the same step (year) that the employee was placed on their previous salary classification. (d) Where an employee voluntarily applies for a position which is a reduction in classification within the same salary schedule, the employee shall be placed on the new classification at the same step (year) that the employee was placed in their previous salary classification. 9.06 An employee shall move to the next highest increment level on the salary scale on the first day of the pay period in which the anniversary date of the employee's employment with the Division occurs. An employee whose regular duties do not require her to supervise other employees and who is required by her Supervisor to supervise five (5) or more other employees shall be paid an additional per day for performing such supervision. An employee shall move to the next highest increment level on the salary scale on the first day of the pay period in which the anniversary date of the employee's employment with the Division occurs. For the purpose of this Article:
(a) An A full-time employee's anniversary date shall be defined as the month and day of the employee's employment with the Division, except: where the employee's anniversary date is changed in accordance with Article or where the Division has, prior to June established a different anniversary date for an employee, in which case the employee's anniversary date shall be the date so established unless it is subsequently changed in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Agreement. (a) Regular and Temporary Employees employed by the Division in a position outside the scope of this Collective Agreement and who becomes employed in a probationary, temporary or regular position within scope of this collective agreement shall have as their anniversary date for increments, their most recent date of the employee's continuous employment with the Division occurs. For the purpose within scope of this Article:
(a) An employee's anniversary date shall be defined as the month and day of the employee's employment with the Division, except where the employee's anniversary date is changed in accordance with Article 9.05, orCollective Agreement.
(b) An employee's Employees currently employed within scope of this Collective Agreement who move from one classification to another, both within scope of this Collective Agreement, shall retain their current anniversary date may dates for increments.
12.05 Employees within this Agreement hired in a new classification shall be changed placed at the step in the new classification at the rate of pay closest to the Employee’s current rate of pay which provides for increment purposes when an increase of a minimum of $.40 per hour.
12.06 Employees will normally be hired at Step 1 of their classification. Should it be considered necessary to hire an Employee at other than Step 1, the employee has been absent without pay for Association shall be notified.
12.07 As conditions of employment and to be eligible to receive paid wages, the following shall apply:
(i) Each Employee must have established a period bank account into which the wages are to be deposited directly by the employer with the Employee having signing authority over that bank account either exclusively or as part of six (6) cumulative months during the preceding twelve (12) months. In such case the employee's anniversary date will be adjusted by a joint account held with one month for each twenty (20) days of absence in excess of six (6) monthsor more other individuals.
(cii) Service Each Employee must fully complete and sign all applicable benefit forms and payroll related documents as a temporary employee will not may be counted for increment purposes required and submit same to the Employer prior to the commencement of active employment.
(iii) Failure to comply with the requirements of paragraphs (i) and (ii) above shall obligate the Employer to withhold the payment of wages until such time as the employee Employee has established a seniority date in accordance fully complied with Article 4.01(f). Such service shall then be considered to date back to the employee's date of last hire as a temporary employeeprovisions.
9.07 Initial placement 12.08 (a.) a) Regular and Temporary Employees employed by the Division in a position outside the scope of this Collective Agreement and who become employed in a Probationary, Temporary or Regular position within scope of this Collective Agreement shall have as their anniversary date for increments, their most recent date of the employee's continuous employment with the Division occurs. b) Employees currently employed within scope of this Collective Agreement who move from one classification to another, both within scope of this Collective Agreement, shall retain their current anniversary date for increments.
12.05 Employees within this Agreement hired in a new classification shall be placed at the Step of their new classification which is closest to their current salary, without taking a reduction in pay.
12.06 Employees will normally be hired at Step 1 of their classification. Should it be considered necessary to hire an Employee at other than Step 1, the Association shall be notified.
12.07 As conditions of employment and to be eligible to receive paid wages, the following shall apply:
(ai) An employee's anniversary date shall Each Employee must have established a bank account into which the wages are to be defined as deposited directly by the month and day of the employee's employment employer with the Division, except where the employee's anniversary date is changed in accordance Employee having signing authority over that bank account either exclusively or as part of a joint account held with Article 9.05, orone or more other individuals.

Such service shall then be considered to date back to the employee's date of last hire as a temporary employeeprovisions.
9.07 Initial placement of a new employee on the salary schedule shall be at the minimum unless:
(a) The Division determines that the employee's experience necessitates that she be placed on the schedule at other than the minimum rate, and
(b) The Division notifies the Association within ten (10) days following such initial placement, of the name of the employee so placed and the particulars of the placement.

9.04 If an employee is required to temporarily assume the duties of an employee in a higher classification, the employee Employee shall be laterally placed on the scale of the assumed position commencing on the third day of assuming such duties will be paid at the classification of the absent employee, and at the salary level to which the employee assuming the duties would be entitled had she been promoted to the positionduties. Such payment would begin after an absence of five (5) consecutive days and pay shall be retroactive to the first day. This allowance shall not be paid when day of the employee in the higher classification is absent because commencement of annual vacation, long service leave, banked time or compensating timesuch duties.
(a) Where an employee is promoted from one classification to another the employee shall be classified for salary purposes in the new classification at the step having the next highest salary to that currently being paid the said employee; or in the case of an employee who has been temporarily promoted at the step having the next highest salary to that being paid to the employee prior to her temporary promotion. The anniversary date for an employee's annual increment shall remain unchanged upon promotion unless an employee is at the maximum for her previous classification, in which case, her anniversary date will be the date of promotion.
(b) Where an employee moves from one salary classification to another within the same salary schedule, the employee shall be placed on the new salary classification in accordance with the promotion clause.
(c) Where an employee moves from one salary schedule to another salary schedule, (e.g., educational assistant salary schedule to clerical salary schedule), the employee shall be placed on the new salary classification at the same step (year) that the employee was placed on their previous salary classification.
(d) Where an employee voluntarily applies for a position which is a reduction in classification within the same salary schedule, the employee shall be placed on the new classification at the same step (year) that the employee was placed in their previous salary classification.
