Waitemata District Health Board. Employees are entitled to two weeks long service leave after 10 years of continuous service as a salaried medical or dental practitioner in New Zealand (or with an overseas health organisation approved by the New Zealand government as part of a foreign policy programme), one week after 15 years, and two weeks after 20 years. Such leave is to be taken in one continuous spell within five years of qualifying, except where an employee had an entitlement to long service leave under a previous employment agreement. The employer may approve an equivalent case payment to the surviving spouse (or estate) of a deceased employee who otherwise would have been eligible for this leave.
