Weekend Schedules. The Medical Center will continue its current policy of scheduling every other weekend off for Full-Time and Part-Time Nurses unless a nurse agrees voluntarily to work more frequent weekends in writing.(e.g., by using the alternate schedule forms or by the nurse entering his or her own schedule preferences in Kronos). Nurses will not be scheduled for consecutive weekends without their consent. If the Medical Center determines based on operational and patient care needs (provided that such discretion is not exercised arbitrarily), that weekend work can be less frequent than every other weekend, such schedules are permitted by this Agreement. If the Medical Center determines that there can be less frequent weekend work, preference for such reduced weekend work will be offered on a bargaining unit seniority basis, to the extent reasonably feasible.

Nurses who have volunteered to work consecutive 11 weekends may withdraw such authorization upon two (2) weeks’ notice in writing. The 12 form authorizing the waiver of the penalty clause will itself state that the policy is to 13 schedule every other weekend off unless the nurse desires to work weekends. Working 14 consecutive weekends will not be a condition of employment, except for part-time 15 nurses who are hired in positions requiring weekend work.

Such request for waiver 5 will be in writing and will indicate the time period in which such waiver will be 6 in effect. A nurse who 8 works on a non-scheduled weekend at the request of management will be 9 paid at one and one-half (1 ½) times the nurse's regular rate of pay for all 10 weekend hours worked. Flexible status RNs will also be eligible for 11 consecutive weekend premiums. This premium rate will not apply to nurses 12 whose weekend work results from a waiver or from a schedule change 13 requested by a nurse who has traded a scheduled weekend with another 14 nurse.
