Common use of Within a Building Clause in Contracts

Within a Building. a. A bargaining unit member who desires a change in grade level and/or subject assignment for the next year shall file a written request with his/her building principal, with a copy of the request sent to the Office of the Superintendent. The building principal shall acknowledge the request in writing within ten (10) working days of its receipt. b. As soon as possible, and not later than the close of school for the summer vacation, the bargaining unit member shall be notified of the disposition of the request. If the request is denied, the bargaining unit member must be notified of the reason(s) for denial in a personal interview with the principal. At that time, if the bargaining unit member desires, he/she may request the principal and the Office of the Superintendent retain his/her written request for subsequent consideration. c. A transfer shall be considered on the basis of seniority which shall be determined by the number of years of continuous service to the school system.
