Common use of Work On An Official Holiday Clause in Contracts

Work On An Official Holiday. 1. A regular employee who does not work a five-day per week schedule with Saturdays and Sundays as normal days off and who works on an official holiday, as defined in Section A., shall earn holiday compensation at a rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the hours worked (up to a maximum of 8 hours) plus straight time pay for assigned regular hours as full compensation for the official holiday. At employee's choice, the time and one-half portion may be taken in pay or as Holiday Credit subject to the provisions of this article. 2. A regular employee who does not work a five-day per week schedule with Saturdays and Sundays as normal days off and who works a shift that overlaps part of an official holiday shall receive holiday compensation for the entire shift if the majority of hours worked (50% or more) fall on the holiday, otherwise the employee shall receive no holiday compensation.
