Work Out of Designated Classification. An employee required by their Department Director or supervisor to temporarily assume the responsibilities of an established position of higher designated classification shall be compensated as follows: A. If the assignment is nine (9) hours or more, such employee shall receive the adjusted pay of five percent (5%) of their regular hourly rate for the time worked outside their designated classification. The employee shall receive a premium of five percent (5%) of their regular hourly rate for out-of-class supervisory/managerial assignments or training as directed by their supervisor for structured training curriculums lasting one (1) week or more. Working out of class assignments will be limited to ninety (90) days and any situations that may warrant an extension of that timeframe will be subject to review by the parties. B. A supervisor/manager shall not work an employee less time and replace them with another employee for the purpose of not paying the appropriate out-of-class compensation. C. This Section shall not apply to employees granted or who have requested in writing the opportunity to train and improve their effectiveness in the higher designated classification. Absent a written request for training from an employee, any work out of classification shall be deemed compensable under Subsection A above. Such a written request by an employee shall outline the scope of work to be performed and establish a start and end time for the training not to exceed six (6) months. D. The supervisor/manager shall make the appropriate notations on the payroll form when an employee works out of designated classification. E. Temporary work assignments to an established position of lower designated classification shall be compensated to the employee at their regular rate of pay, subject to Section 8 (A) above.

No adjustment in salary will be received by the employee if the work out of designated classification is below the employee's current designated classification. The employee shall receive a premium of five percent (5%) of their regular hourly rate for out-of-class supervisory/managerial assignments or training as directed by their supervisor for structured training curriculums lasting one (1) week or more. Working out of class assignments will be limited to ninety (90) days and any situations that may warrant an extension of that timeframe will be subject to review by the parties.
B. 2. A supervisor/manager supervisor shall not work an employee less time within one (1) hour of the four (4) hour limitation and replace them him/her with another employee for the purpose of not paying the appropriate out-of-class compensationgreater amount.
C. 3. This Section shall not apply to employees granted granted, or who have requested requested, in writing writing, the opportunity to train and improve their effectiveness in the higher designated classification.
4. Absent The employee shall only be eligible for Out of Classification Pay if his/her supervisor pre- approves such work in writing, and as a written further pre-condition to such payment, a member of the Library District’s Administrative Team must also pre-approve and forward the request for training from an employee, any work out of classification shall be deemed compensable under Subsection A above. Such a written request by an employee shall outline additional pay in writing to the scope of work to be performed and establish a start and end time for the training not to exceed six (6) monthsPayroll Department.

E. 5. Temporary work assignments to an established position of in a lower designated classification shall be compensated to the employee at their his/her regular rate of pay.
6. Employees who are assigned to a position/classification outside of this bargaining unit at a wage range higher than their own shall be compensated at the minimum wage rate for the designated classification or an amount that would provide the employee a four percent (4%) increase above his/her current rate of pay, subject to Section 8 (A) abovewhichever is greater, for all time worked in the higher position.
