Xxxx of advancement. The employee’s Department Director shall be responsible (consistent with City-wide standards) for determining when the employee meets the criteria for advancement to a higher level within the multi-level classification. The Department Director may determine to advance an employee to a higher level within the employee’s classification at any time the employee meets the criteria for the higher level. Typically, multi-level advancements will be made on the first day of a new pay period. Typically, retroactive pay adjustments are not made for multi-level pay advancements.
