Artificial coloring definition

Artificial coloring means coloring containing any dye or pigment which was manufactured by a process of synthesis or other similar artifice or by extraction of a natural dye or pigment from a plant or other material from which the dye or pigment was formed.
Artificial coloring means the same as the term is defined in 21 C.F.R. 101.22(a)(4) (April 1, 2015) and as the term "color additive" is defined in 21 C.F.R 70.3(f) (April 1, 2015).
