California Independent System Operator Corporation definition

California Independent System Operator Corporation or “CAISO” means the non-profit public benefit corporation responsible for the provision of fair and open transmission access, and maintaining reliable and efficient operation of that portion of the electric grid contained within its defined balancing authority area, pursuant to the California Public Utilities Code, or its successor entity.
