Class III well definition

Class III well means under the federal underground injection control program promulgated under part C of the Safe Drinking Water Act, 42 U.S.C. 300 et seq. (2003), a well that injects fluids for extraction of minerals, including solution mining of minerals. The term includes any well used in:

  • The logs and tests appropriate to each type of Class III well shall be determined based on the intended function, depth, construction and other characteristics of the well, availability of similar data in the area of the drilling site and the need for additional information that may arise from time to time as the construction of the well progresses.

Class III well means a well that is classified as a Class III well under Directive 051: Injection and Disposal Wells — Well Classifications, Completions, Logging, and Testing Requirements, published by the Alberta Energy Regulator, as amended from time to time;
