Elevator certificate of competency means a credential issued by the division to any individual natural person successfully completing an examination as prescribed by rule and paying a nonrefundable fee of $50. Such credential shall be valid for and expire at the end of 1 year, and may be renewed by the division when the division receives proof of the elevator certificate of competency holder’s completion of 8 hours of continuing education from a provider approved by the department and a nonrefundable renewal fee of $50. The department shall adopt by rule criteria for providing approval and procedures for continuing education reporting.
