Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Goa 4[ ] Excise Duty Act, 1964.
Mr. Speaker, I thank this House for approving a modern and simplified Excise Duty Act and Tax Procedure Act, both of which are now being implemented.
Because the existing Schedules to the Customs and Excise Act have been split into a “Customs Tariff”and an “Excise Tariff” to be added to the relevant legislation at a later stage, references in the Excise Duty Act to existing Schedule numbers will all change.
