Local Access and Transport Area (LATA) means a contiguous geographic area: (1) established before the date of enactment of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 by BA-__ such that no Exchange area includes points within more than one metropolitan statistical area, consolidated metropolitan statistical area, or state, except as expressly permitted under the AT&T Consent Decree; or (2) established or modified by BA-__ after such date of enactment and approved by the Federal Communications Commission.
Local Access and Transport Area (LATA) means a contiguous geographic area: (a) established before the date of enactment of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 by a Bell operating company such that no exchange area includes points within more than one metropolitan statistical area, consolidated metropolitan statistical area, or State, except as expressly permitted under the AT&T Consent Decree; or (b) established or modified by a Bell operating company after such date of enactment and approved by the FCC
Local Access and Transport Area (LATA) means a geographic area established for the provision and administration of communications Service. It encompasses one or more designated exchanges, which are grouped to serve common social, economic and other purposes. For the purposes of this tariff Geographical Market Area (GMA) and LATA are intended to be interchangeable.
