Maternal patient means a woman admitted to an obstetric center in accordance with NAC 449.61134 who has had a normal uncomplicated prenatal course, as determined by adequate prenatal care, and the prospect for a normal, uncomplicated birth, as defined by the criteria established by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and by reasonable and generally accepted clinical standards for maternal and fetal health.

Maternal patient or “patient” shall mean a pregnant woman or new mother who is receiving medical care during pregnancy, during labor and delivery, or within six weeks after delivery.
