IN‐AREA TREATMENT OF AN EMERGENCY You are considered to be in your Participating IPA's/Participating Medical Group's treatment area if you are within 30 miles of your Participating IPA/Participating Medical Group.
If your Hospital stay is longer than the usual length of stay for your type of condition, the Participating IPA/Participating Medical Group will contact your Primary Care Physician or Woman's Principal Health Care Provider to determine whether there is a medically necessary reason for you to remain in the Hospital.
CONCURRENT REVIEW Once you have been admitted to a Hospital as an Inpatient, your length of stay will be reviewed by the Participating IPA/Participating Medical Group.
OUT‐OF‐AREA TREATMENT OF AN EMERGENCY If you are more than 30 miles away from your Participating IPA/Participating Medical Group and need to obtain treatment for an Emergency Medical Condition, benefits will be provided for the Hospital and Physician services that you receive.
Requirements: Blue Cross and Blue Shield requires that any Mental Illness and/or Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program must be licensed in the state where it is located or accredited by a national organization that is recognized by your Participating IPA or Participating Medical Group as set forth in its current credentialing policy, and otherwise meets all other credentialing requirements set forth in such policy.
