Modern Slavery definition

Modern Slavery has the meaning given to that term or, if “Modern Slavery” is not used, similar terms (such as forced labor), in the Modern Slavery Laws. Seller confirms that it does not use any Forced Labor, it conducts its business in compliance with the applicable Modern Slavery Laws, and it is not subject to any investigation, enforcement or conviction involving Modern Slavery. Seller shall promptly notify Buyer of any actual or suspected breaches by Seller or its Subcontractors of the applicable Modern Slavery Laws, and Seller agrees to provide Buyer immediately upon request any information and assistance that Buyer may require for compliance with the applicable Modern Slavery Laws.
Modern Slavery means any activity, practice or conduct that would constitute an offence in relation to slavery, forced labour, involuntary servitude, debt bondage, human trafficking, forced or servile marriage, the sale and exploitation of children and other slavery-like exploitation as prohibited or defined as a modern slavery offence under anti-slavery and human trafficking laws, statutes and codes from time to time in force including, but not limited to the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth), sch 1 divisions 270 and 271 and the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). For the avoidance of doubt, Modern Slavery includes any conditions or practices similar to those prohibited under those laws, statutes, regulations and codes;
Modern Slavery has the same meaning as in the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth).

Examples of Modern Slavery in a sentence

  • The Supplier warrants that the Supplier and, to the best of its knowledge and belief having made reasonable enquiries, its supply chain, have not been convicted of any offence involving Modern Slavery.

  • The Supplier shall, and warrants and undertakes that it shall, comply with the Bribery Act 2010, Modern Slavery Act 2015, Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Criminal Finances Act 2017 and not do, or omit to do, any act that will cause SGT to be in breach of the Bribery Act 2010, Modern Slavery Act 2015, Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 or the Criminal Finances Act 2017.

  • The Supplier must immediately notify the Customer if it becomes aware of any actual, potential or perceived Modern Slavery in its operations or its supply chain.

  • The Seller shall comply with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations, codes, standards and guidelines relating to prevention of violation of human rights, child and forced labor, exploitation, and slavery, including but not limited to the U.K. Modern Slavery Act, 2015, Australia Modern Slavery Act, 2018 (Commonwealth Act), and US Trafficking Victims Protection Act, 2000, and will instruct and require its contractors, agents, and business partners to do the same.

  • The Supplier warrants that it and its supply chain will conduct their business in a manner so as to reduce the risk of Modern Slavery in their operations and supply chains.


More Definitions of Modern Slavery

Modern Slavery has the meaning given to that term in the applicable Modern Slavery Laws; absent a definition in the applicable Modern Slavery Laws, “Modern Slavery” shall mean exploitative practices involving coercion and/or deception that aim at exacting involuntary work or service from people, such practices including but not limited to Forced Labor, child labor, debt bondage, domestic servitude and human trafficking. Seller confirms that it and its Subcontractors do not use any Forced Labor, it conducts its business, including its supply chain operations, in compliance with the applicable Modern Slavery Laws, and it is not subject to any investigation, enforcement or conviction involving Modern Slavery. Seller shall promptly notify Buyer of any actual or suspected breaches by Seller or its Subcontractors of the applicable Modern Slavery Laws, and agrees to provide Buyer immediately upon request any information and assistance that Buyer may require for compliance with the applicable Modern Slavery Laws.
