Registered candidates for certification under the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards may request and shall be granted two days of professional leave for purposes of preparing for NBPTS assessments.

Effective July 1, 2001, should the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards establish standards for Mental Health employees, any Mental Health employee who has achieved such certification will immediately receive this special professional growth payment of five percent (5%) of their salary (salary cell plus experience credit) upon submitting appropriate documentation (certificate or letter from the National Board) to the principal and the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
