Northbound Trading definition

Northbound Trading means the trading of China Connect Securities by Hong Kong and overseas investors through Stock Connect.
Northbound Trading or “Northbound” means trading of SSE Securities or SZSE Securities by Hong Kong and international investors through Shanghai and/or Shenzhen Connect.
Northbound Trading means the trading of China Connect Securities by Hong Kong and overseas investors through Stock Connect; “Offshore RMB” means RMB available for general exchange market transactions outside Mainland China;

  • Such foreign ownership limits may be applied on an aggregate basis (i.e. across both domestically and overseas issued shares of the same issuer, whether the relevant holdings are through Northbound Trading, QFII/RQFII regime or other investment channels).

  • Under the Northbound Trading Link, eligible foreign investors are required to appoint the CFETS or other institutions recognised by the People’s Bank of China (“PBOC”) as registration agents to apply for registration with the PBOC.

  • Under the Stock Connect, overseas investors (including the Funds) may be allowed, subject to rules and regulations issued / amended from time to time, to trade China A Shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (“SSE”) through the Northbound Trading Link.

  • Investors should note that, when engaging in Northbound Trading, a sub-fund is not protected by the Investor Compensation Fund in Hong Kong or the China Securities Investor Protection Fund and that investors cannot receive compensation through these programs.

  • There is currently no manual trading or block trading facility for Stock Connect Securities transactions within the scope of Northbound Trading.
