Giveaways by non-profit exhibitors who are subject to the PhRMA Code must meet the standards for Giveaways by Commercial Exhibitors above.
Giveaways by Commercial Exhibitors: It is ASCO’s policy that all giveaways by commercial exhibitors will meet the giveaway standards of the CMSS Code for Interactions with Companies and with the PhRMA Code, regardless of whether the exhibitors have adopted the PhRMA Code.
In keeping with the PhRMA Code, all giveaways by commercial exhibitors must be designed primarily for the education of patients or healthcare professionals.
Additionally, Sponsor shall comply with the Council of Medical Specialty Societies Code for Interactions with Companies, American Medical Association Code of Medical Ethics, ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, Physician Payments Sunshine Act (currently operating as the Open Payments program), AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with U.S. Health Care Professionals, and PhRMA Code on Interactions with Health Care Professionals, as applicable.
The PhRMA Code provides guidance on what is acceptable during these interactions to ensure that HCPs have the most up to date and accurate information on prescription medicines.
