Cloud Service Provider (CSP): A company or institution that offers some component of cloud computing to other businesses or individual, typically Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) or Platform as a Service (PaaS), as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) As defined in NIST Special Publication 800-122 “Guide to Protecting the Confidentiality of Personally Identifiable Information (PII)”, Platform as a Service (PaaS) The capability provided to the Authorized User to deploy onto the Cloud, infrastructure Authorized User-created or acquired applications created using programming languages and tools supported by the Vendor.

The consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud infrastructure including network, servers, operating systems, storage, or even individual application capabilities, with the possible exception of limited Cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS).
