Prudence definition

Prudence means a standard of judgment, management, and action which is reasonable under the circumstances based on what was known or should have been known at the time a decision was made or action was taken. Prudence implies a standard or duty of care owed to others. In cases where the risk of harm to public safety or economic risk to ratepayers is high, the duty of care is correspondingly high.
