Prior service at the ranks of Instructor, Lecturer or Research Assistant, when leading to a promotion to a higher rank, may be considered by an institution president as part of the period of accumulated service for the purposes of the time requirement for sabbatical eligibility.
The bargaining unit is described as employees holding the following titles at the University of South Florida: Graduate Research Assistant (Class Code 9182), Graduate Research Associate (Class Code 9181), Graduate Teaching Assistant (Class Code 9184), Graduate Teaching Associate (Class Code 9183), Graduate Assistant (Class Code 9185), and Graduate Instructional Assistant (Class Code 9550).
The Employer shall advise Teaching Assistants in their Teaching Assistant Form (TAF) and Teaching Fellows in their Teaching Fellow Form (TFF) or their Letter of Appointment, and Research Assistants in their Research Assistant Form (RAF), that they are included in the Bargaining Unit represented by the Union, and that their employment is on the terms and conditions set out in the Collective Agreement.
Intellectual property in such material shall be owned, in the first instance, by the Employer if it was created under a contract of employment that assigns responsibility for the creation of such material to the Research Assistant.
A Research Assistant who is the creator of material referenced in Article 22.04 above will, with the agreement of their supervisor, faculty member collaborator or other applicable individual as the context requires, receive recognition for their contribution to the material, but such recognition shall not affect the legal status of the intellectual property in the material.
