Seiche means standing wave in an enclosed body of water producing fluctuations in the water level and caused by wind, earthquakes, changes in barometric pressure, etc.

Seiche is a French word that means “to sway back and forth.”. Seismic seiches are waves set up on rivers, reservoirs, ponds, and lakes when seismic waves from an earthquake pass through the area.
