Special Needs Households definition

Special Needs Households means the Homeless, Elderly, Older Persons, persons with disabilities (mental, physical, developmental), abused spouses and their children, persons with alcohol or other drug addiction, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and migrant farm workers.
Special Needs Households means Homeless people and/or people with physical or developmental disabilities or chronic mental illnesses as defined in HUD’s Handbook 4571.2, Section 1-5, Parts A.2. and A.3., attached to the Initial Application Package. Special Needs Households will also include households qualifying for “Farm Worker Housing” as defined by USDA for purposes of its Section 514 program, also attached to the Initial Application Package.
Special Needs Households means households in which an individual or household member has a substantial, long term disability which includes any of the following: (1) Serious Mental Illness; (2) Addictive Disorder (i.e., individuals in treatment and demonstrated recovery from substance abuse disorder); (3) Developmental Disability (e.g., intellectual disability, autism, or other disability acquired before the age of 22); (4) Physical, sensory, or cognitive disability occurring after the age of 22; 5) Disability caused by effects of chronic illness (e.g., people with HIV/AIDS who are no longer able to work); (6) Age-related Disability (e.g., frail elderly, or, young adults with other special needs who have been in the foster care or juvenile services system), or, 7) households/individuals who are homeless.

Examples of Special Needs Households in a sentence

  • The parties acknowledge that some of the Special Needs Households may require regular and long-term community-based supportive services during their tenancy, while others may need only temporary or short-term support to address a situational crisis or to receive assistance to regain independence and stability.

  • The parties agree that Special Needs Households qualifying for the ▇▇▇ units in the Development should be (i) receiving community-based supportive services at the time of the referral; (ii) prepared to live in an independent living environment; and (iii) able to pay the determined rent and other costs for the available ▇▇▇ unit.

  • Special Needs beneficiary is one who needs additional time to complete his/ her education due to physical, mental or emotional limitations. In addition, as discussed below, a beneficiary may roll over contributions to another ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Education Savings Account until he or she attains age 30.
