Substitute Musician definition

Substitute Musician. Any musician who is engaged on a temporary basis to substitute for an Orchestra Member who is on sick leave or other approved leave of absence, or to fill a vacancy.

Substitute Musician. A musician employed on a temporary basis to replace an absent contract member of the orchestra. Substitutes shall receive at least the musician rate for the position that they are temporarily filling.

Examples of Substitute Musician in a sentence

  • If seven (7) days notice is given, the Musician shall attend the service as called or provide and compensate a Substitute Musician.

  • The Substitute Musician performing in the principal chair shall be paid the principal scale.

  • The Employer shall not employ any Substitute Musician whose name does not appear on the appropriate list except under the following circumstances.

  • In no instance will the roster or seating order result in the non-engagement of a Musician as the result of the engagement of a Substitute Musician.

  • In case of an emergency, however, a Substitute Musician may be appointed by the Personnel Manager without consulting the Principal.

  • Additions and/or deletions to the Approved Substitute List shall be made as needed (but in all events in advance of any circumstances for which a Substitute Musician would be proposed) by the Music Director, or his designee, in consultation with the appropriate Principal.

  • Notwithstanding any other provision of this Agreement, the Conductor reserves the right to hire a Substitute Musician for a run out concert and program-related subscription concert(s) when a Tenured Musician is unable to play the run out concert.

  • The Employer will engage a Seasonal Substitute Musician to replace a musician on an Unpaid Seasonal Leave of Absence (Section 23), in accord with Section 7.2. The Employer will engage a Substitute Musician to replace a Musician on an Unpaid Leave of Absence of less than a season or on sick/personal leave as instrumentation requires.
