Vegetated Buffer definition

Vegetated Buffer means any undisturbed area between a construction site and a receiving water that consists of a naturally vegetated ground surface (e.g. trees, shrubs, duff layer, grasses, and other ground plants). This does not include any area of concentrated flow (e.g. ditches, swales).
Vegetated Buffer means a permanent strip of dense perennial vegetation naturally occurring or established parallel to the contours of and perpendicular to the dominant slope of the field for the purposes of slowing water runoff, enhancing water infiltration, and minimizing the risk of any potential nutrients or pollutants from leaving the field and reaching surface waters. For the purposes of the CAFO Regulations, vegetated buffers will be measured from the top of the bank of the water body that is being buffered.
