It is understood between the parties that all modified work outside of regular duties is excluded from the calculation of the probationary period to a maximum of 200 modified hours. The Company will notify the union representative in writing prior to an employee completing their five hundred and twenty (520) hour probationary period that their probationary period has been extended by up to 200 hours because of modified work. Upon completion of the probationary period, seniority shall then be established retroactive to the commencement of employment. Probationary period may be extended for those new probationary employees who has performed modified hours. This change was needed by the Company to better assess suitability since the employee may have worked hours on modified duties and unable to reach pick percentage. Given more time the employee may succeed. This change simplifies the process to extend probation up to a maximum of 200 hours. The Company must notify the Union Representative prior to the completion of probation. Failure to notify the Union Representative in writing, the extension will be invalidated.
