Acceptance of an Offer of a Position. i) An employee will have five working days from the date of receipt, not including the date of offer, to consider the formal offer of a position made as a result of exercising their bumping rights. If the employee does not accept the offer of the position within the five working days, they will be deemed to have declined the offer. ii) If an employee does not accept an offer of a position in their own class at the mandatory stage of bumping, they will be deemed to have resigned. Notwithstanding, such an employee will still be eligible for severance pay and Career Assistance options or access retirement programs currently in place. iii) If an employee does not accept an offer of a position at the optional stage of the bumping process, they will be placed on lay-off as per notice or may resign and receive severance pay and Career Assistance options or access retirement programs currently in place. iv) For Permanent Part-time Employees, the following shall apply: i) if an employee declines an offer of a position in their own class, they will be deemed to have resigned and receive severance pay. ii) If an employee declines an offer of a position in a lower class, they will be placed on lay-off or they may resign and receive severance pay.
