ACCIDENTS IN THE LINE OF DUTY. If an employee is compelled to be absent from duty due to any injury or disease which comes under the State of California Worker’s Compensation Insurance and Safety Act, he or she shall receive compensation from the City for each such accident as follows: During the first twenty six (26) calendar weeks of such absence, he or she shall receive compensation equivalent to his or her normal gross salary. After the first twenty six (26) weeks of such absence, he or she shall receive compensation equivalent to his or her normal gross salary. After the first twenty six (26) weeks, he or she shall receive compensation in accordance with and under the provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Insurance and Safety Act. He or she shall be entitled to all of sick leave or vacation benefits while she/he is receiving temporary disability indemnity under the provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Insurance and Safety Act at the discretion of the City Manager.
