Archaeological Extended Phase I Testing Sample Clauses

Archaeological Extended Phase I Testing. Kleinfelder will prepare a site-specific safety plan and Job Hazard Analysis for the Project which Kleinfelder staff will adhere to while on-site. This plan will include COVID-19 daily self-screening, including temperature checks. Kleinfelder will excavate 15 to 20 hand auger units within the Project’s APE to determine the vertical and horizontal extent of potential resources within the APE. The hand auger units will be excavated to the maximum depth possible or to bedrock. Two Kleinfelder archaeologists will conduct the testing over the course of ten (10) eight-hour days. All excavated materials will be screened through ¼-inch wire mesh and recovered artifacts will be analyzed and documented in the field. If additional archaeological testing or data recovery is necessary, Kleinfelder would be pleased to conduct the work under a modified scope and budget. Any artifacts or features observed during testing will be documented in the field and no prehistoric material will be removed from the Project site. Documentation may consist of mapping or collection of GPS data, measurements, written descriptions, and digital photographs. If additional laboratory analysis of any artifacts is required, these tasks could be completed under a modified scope and cost. If human remains are identified during testing, work will be halted within 100 feet of the discovery and immediately inform the Marin County coroner and Caltrans to discuss next steps. It is assumed that no human remains will be identified during testing and the analysis and recordation of human remains are not included within this scope and cost estimate. The methods and results of the testing will be included in the XPI report prepared for the Project, described below under the heading Archaeological Extended Phase I Report.
